Els van de KarDr. Elisabeth van de Kar (Els) holds an MSc in Strategic Management from RSM and a PhD from Delft University of Technology. She works in the domain of Business Service Innovation as a researcher, lecturer, consultant and entrepreneur. Her research interests include service design; mobile information and entertainment service systems; and organizing ICT enabled innovation within value networks.

She received a PhD from Delft University of Technology in systems engineering for her research on a design approach for mobile information services in which the customer, technology and organizational issues are balanced. Van de Kar has more than 25 years working experience in industry at the Dutch telecommunications operator KPN Telecom (1990-1998), as an independent consultant (since 1998) and as owner/managing director of EventsIT (2008-2018).

Alongside those business activities she works as a researcher & lecturer in academics. She did this part-time as assistant professor Service System Engineering at Delft University of Technology (1999-2009) and as associate professor Business Service Innovation at Fontys University of Applied Science (2017-2020).

Since January 2020 Els has been appointed as executive fellow at Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University Rotterdam) in the department of Technology and Operations Management. She lectures bachelor students the ‘Informatiemanagement’ course and supervises Business Information Management (BIM) master thesis students.
